Charity Memorial Contest, Blackpole & Perdiswell: 7 June 2026

£500 was raised from this contest by DSAC members in memory of Phil Simnett and Dave Anderson for Redditch Lions' children's charities.
Droitwich Spa Angling Club very much appreciates the support we received in fundraising for Redditch Lions’ Charities.
Thank you to Julie’s Cafe (Droitwich WR9 9EQ), Cadence Fishing Tackle UK, Edge Tackle and Aqua Fisheries (Herriots Pool) for providing charity raffle prizes, and to the Worcester and District United Anglers Association for allowing free use of their waters at Blackpole and Perdiswell.

This was a tough match, with not many fish feeding. It boiled down to who could catch a bonus fish (or two, for Top 2 places).
Well done to Kev Downton with two decent bream and bits for 7-2-0, closely followed by Derek Stephens with two slightly smaller bream and bits for 6-6-0.
Watto had one bream and bits for 4-4-0 and 3rd place.
14 fished. No boats. Plenty of geese - mainly noisy!!

27 anglers turned out on a moody Droitwich canal. Days of constant rain had done little to change the clarity of the water and most participants struggled for bites. Runaway leader was Paul Wilson on Peg 2, fishing long pole and pinkie to the far reeds. Very few quality fish showed and everyone was eager to get back to the presentation at the Fernhill Heath club, ably conducted by Mick Watson and Mike Adams.
